The Gujarati comedy film Jai Mata Ji Let’s Rock, directed by Manish Saini, is a masterful comedy drama that cleverly mocks the elderly without offending their feelings.
The story centers on an 80-year-old widow (Neela Mulherkar) who leads a middle-class life in a tiny Gujarati town and has two sons and grandsons. She spent some time in an assisted living facility after her sons abandoned her, until one day Tiku Talsania, her older son, brings her home. In the meantime, Gujarat’s state government has announced a program for its inhabitants who are 80 years of age or older. Every senior over 80 will receive one lakh per month under the government program. Her older son was thrilled to hear this, but as soon as her younger son Gulab (Shekhar Shukla) learned about the plan, he attempted to bring her to his house in hopes of receiving one lakh every month. Because both brothers desired to retain her in their own house, the tension between them grew. However, there is a twist to her story when her childhood boyfriend reappears and asks her to marry him at this age as well. This was really an eye-opening situation in front of everyone in the family. Climax is the real crux of the story. So, to know what happens at the end, one must watch it.
Neela Mulherkar, a senior actress, is the film’s main character. She brilliantly captures the audience’s affection with an amazing performance. Another highlight of the movie are the performances of Shekhar Shukla and Tiku Talsania. Malhar Thakar and Vyoma Nandi have amazing on-screen chemistry. In addition to them, other actors like as Shilpa Thakar, Utkarsh Majumdar, Aryan Prajapati, and Vandana Pathak have also performed their roles well.
This film clearly demonstrates the charisma of Manish Saini’s direction. In practically every scenario, he has attempted to make it humorous. He skilfully demonstrated how people can become so self-centred for financial gain, even when it involves a member of their own family.
Even though it doesn’t play a significant part in this comedy-drama, Night Song Records’ music is nevertheless really good.
Overall, this is among the best comedy-dramas of the year. You should not pass it up if you truly enjoy comedies. Why wait, then? Go see it at the theatre that is closest to you.
