Gaurav Sharma talks about playing Toshu in Anupamaa

Sharing his excitement for a new role in his career, Sharma says,”This is my second show with Directors Kut Productions. ‘Anupamaa’ has been the number one show for so many years thus I was more than happy when I heard the news of being selected for this one. It feels great, and I feel blessed to be a part of ‘Anupamaa’.” Gaurav also shares how Toshu is different from Gaurav in real life. ”I am totally opposite to Toshu in real life. Gaurav is nothing like Toshu. I am a mama’s boy and Toshu is the complete opposite because he’s a disobedient son who doesn’t respect his mother. So, it’s quite a challenge, but with the help of my directors and the co-stars, I think I’ll be able to achieve it. I’m still trying, and there’s a lot to learn from being Toshu.”

Gaurav has worked with Rajan Shahi earlier in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and shares his emotions for the successful producer.”It’s always great to be back here. Directors Kut Productions has been one of my favorite production houses- they are very professional and have good production values. The directors are really nice and cooperative and the actors are all seasoned.”

Gaurav, who has just entered the show, is watching old episodes of Anupamaa. He is also someone who keeps asking questions to directors and creative personnel of the show. At the same time he feels this is his own journey. Asked about his reel mother Rupali Ganguly, Gaurav says,”So far, all the scenes I’ve done are with Rupali ma’am. She is truly exceptional and deserves all the stardom she has achieved. She is not only a great artist but also a wonderful human being. There’s so much to learn from her.” Gaurav is aware that from the audience’s point of view they can take time to accept the new Toshu.”It can indeed be challenging to accept a new actor in their favorite role. When it comes to replacements, people may initially struggle to accept the change after seeing another actor in the role for years. However, it’s my job to make them believe in me and I’m working on it. Competition will always exist in this industry because everyone is prepared to be a part of it. I believe in continuously learning and going with the flow. On set, the first day was a bit awkward, but now I’ve been introduced and everyone knows me. It’s an enjoyable experience to have lunch together.”
