‘Dhai Aakhar’ is among the best films of the year for those who enjoy literature. Mrinal Kulkarni’s portrayal of a lady, whose emotional journey is masterfully constructed by director Praveen Arora, is stunning. It is based on the well-known novel “Teerthatan Ke Baad.”

The story revolves around a decent middle-class lady (played by Mrinal Kulkarni), who got married to a cruel person who treats his wife like a slave. She has been tortured since the first night after marriage. After having two kids, she loses her husband at an early age but continues living with her two sons in those opposite circumstances. Her problem could not become less even after having two daughters-in-law and a granddaughter. The only support she received was from her younger daughter-in-law. Twist comes into her life when she falls in love with a novel writer. She becomes a good friend with him through letters. Her relationship goes beyond friendship through sharing their emotions for each other through letters. The actual twist comes in her life when she decides to go to meet him personally for a few days at his residence, where he was living alone. Whatever happens in the end is the real crux of the story, so to know what happens at the end, one must watch the film.

Actress Mrinal Kulkarni is the heart and soul of the movie. She has perfectly done justice to her role. She portrays her role in such a way that the audience waits for her next scene or on-screen appearance. Her performance is simply outstanding. Apart from her, actor Harish Khanna is another attraction of the film. Although he has a small but very appealing role. Apart from the lead actors, other artists like Rohit Kokate, etc. have also done justice to their parts.

Apart from a good storyline, music is another strength of the film. Irshad Kamil’s lyrics are very impressive and heart-touching. The music of Anupam Roy is mind-blowing and enhances the beauty of the film.

Overall, this is one of the finest movies of the year that literature lovers should not miss. After a long time, such beautiful stories from the literature are considered for movies. So why wait? Go and watch it in your nearest cinema hall.
