‘Dange’ talks about all kinds of abusive things that are mostly noticed in colleges, especially in cities. Be it the supply of drugs, girl’s molestation, love affairs, political influence among student groups, the biasness of college management, caste hatred, etc. As history suggests, the major disputes among students are mainly due to the love affair or the influence of political parties on the group or union of students to win the student union elections by hook or by crook. Here in the film, both of these angles are shown beautifully.

The story revolves around a college student played by Harshvardhan Rane and another student played by Ehan Bhat (junior batch) who are studying at a college in Goa. They are involved in almost every nonsense activity except study. In very little time, they manage to make girlfriends too. The roles of their girlfriends are played by TJ Bhanu and Nikita Dutta, respectively. The twist comes in their lives when they face the heat of each other in the college premise. Both meet after so many years and recall their childhood school friendship and an incident that separated them for a very long time. The recall of that incident actually created a silent rivalry among them, and in no time, that rivalry converted to violence. The climax is the real crux of the story, so one must watch the film to know what happened at the end.

From start to finish, the film loses its grip on holding the attention of the audience. Except for a few ignorable twists and turns, there is nothing that can impress or surprise the viewers. The director has tried to justify its title, Dange (riots), but he failed to give a really strong reason for such riots or violence among two groups of students. Even the climax had nothing special to please the audience.

Actors like Harshvardhan Rane, Nikita Dutta, TJ Bhanu, Paavani Atrey and Ehan Bhat, etc. have given their best, but the poor storyline has ruined all the good things in the film. Even the screenplay and dialogues are not up to par. The direction of Bejoy Nambiar is not impressive, and even the cinematography is technically not up to the standard of 21st-century cinema.

Overall, ‘Dange’ fails to impress the audience by losing the grip to hold their attention. Even film could not give a clear message to the youth, especially college goers. Still, if you are a hardcore fan of Harshvardhan Rane or Nikita Dutta, you can plan to watch it at least once.
