Director Vivek Soni’s Chand Mera Dil is a romantic love story with a difference. Is Lakakshya and Ananya’s onscreen chemistry really able to impress the audience? Let’s try to explore it…
The story revolves around Chandani (Ananya Panday) and Aarav (Lakshya), who are in the same engineering college in Hyderabad and, in a lesser time, become good friends too. This friendship knowingly / unknowingly leads to a next level where Chandani becomes pregnant. Both are students, living away from families in a hostel, and still nothing is predictable about their careers. In such a scenario, initially both decide to go for an abortion, but in the last moment, Chandani starts having feelings for that child. She decides not to abort but to carry her child as a single mother. Later, Aarav realized that he needed to support her emotions and offered to marry her. Although there was no pressure as such on them to marry, still, postmarital life becomes hell for them. A major twist starts from here in their lives. Was it really a successful married life? Do they cope with the responsibility of studies and career? Does their unwished-for decision help them to make their career? Do their families agree to such unexpected decisions? The climax is the real crux of the story. So, to know what happens at the end, one must watch it.
The story, screenplay, and dialogues are quite normal and to a larger extent failed to impress the audience. Some of the scenes and sequences are not convincing in the storyline. Ananya’s character of Chandani was not able to be justified. The climax was very much predictable; that’s why the movie struggles to hold the attention of the audience in the cinema hall.
The direction of Vivek Soni is good, but the poor storyline could not make things happen and, to a larger extent, failed to meet the expectations of the audience. A better storyline and a fresh screenplay could have made it much better.
Sachin Jigar’s music and Amitabh Bhattacharya’s lyrics even could not help the movie much. Songs are average and do not force listeners to keep them in memory.
Actor Lakshya has done a good job to the extent he has tried to justify his role. On the other side, Ananya’s performance is good. She has tried her level best and done justice to her role of Chandani. Apart from them, other artists, like Aastha Singh, Paresh Pahuja, Manish Chaidhari, Charu Shankar, etc., have also justified their parts.
Overall, this is a below-average film that fails to hold the attention of the audience and doesn’t meet the expectations of cinegoers. But still, if you are a hardcore fan of Ananya or Lakshya, you can try watching once.
