Hosted by Riteish Deshmukh and Farah Khan, Lock Upp 2 is redefining the reality TV format by putting authenticity and vulnerability at its core.
Reality television has long been associated with high-voltage drama, strategic gameplay and carefully crafted narratives. But Netflix’s Lock Upp 2 is steadily breaking away from that mould. While the show delivers its share of entertainment and competition, it has also become a platform where contestants are opening up about deeply personal experiences, identities and life-changing moments with remarkable honesty.
This season features an eclectic mix of personalities including Ram Kapoor, Shivangi Joshi, Dheeraj Dhoopar, Harshad Chopda, Madhuri Grover, Akanksha Chamola, Shreya Kalra, Sufi Motiwala, Pamela Serena and others, each bringing not just their public persona but also their real-life journeys into the house.
One of the most emotional moments of the season came when Ram Kapoor revealed that he was sexually abused during his school years, a traumatic experience he had kept hidden for nearly four decades. Sharing that only his wife, Gautami Kapoor, knew about the incident, Ram admitted that the experience changed him forever, leaving him withdrawn and deeply traumatised.
His revelation left fellow contestants Harshad Chopda and Sufi Motiwala in tears, while hosts Riteish Deshmukh and Farah Khan comforted him with heartfelt hugs and applauded his courage in finally speaking about his past.

The season has also witnessed conversations around identity and acceptance. Akanksha Chamola candidly shared that she is bisexual and revealed that her husband, Gaurav Khanna, was aware of her sexuality before their marriage and accepted her wholeheartedly. Her openness sparked conversations around understanding and acceptance, subjects that are still often considered taboo.
Similarly, Sufi Motiwala spoke about the emotional journey of coming out as a gay man in India. Reflecting on self-acceptance and family expectations, he highlighted how parents, much like individuals discovering their own identities, also need time to process and understand such life-changing truths.

These deeply personal confessions have added another dimension to Lock Upp 2, proving that genuine stories can be just as compelling as dramatic confrontations. Rather than relying solely on conflicts and controversies, the show has encouraged contestants to embrace vulnerability and present their authentic selves before the audience.
The response has reflected that connect. Lock Upp 2 has entered Netflix’s Global Top 10 Non-English Shows at No. 8 with 1.9 million views, while also claiming the No. 1 spot on Netflix India’s Top 10 list.
While competition, strategy and entertainment remain integral to the format, Lock Upp 2 has distinguished itself by creating space for honest conversations that rarely find a place on reality television today. In doing so, it has offered audiences something increasingly rare in the genre—authentic human stories.
