BOLLYWOOD V/S BARISH... TIP TIP BARASA PANI !!!

As I sip my morning tea at my terrace garden I can feel the monsoon spell its mesmerising charm. The feel is elevated as lovely rain songs are being played on my music system. There is something magical about monsoons and romance, isn't it?  Both bring with them fond memories, new hopes and fresh beginnings. But more than that, they invoke your sensual nature, making your heart flutter with love and passion.

Bollywood too drives its inspiration from the rains. In the last several decades, Bollywood has filmed countless monsoon songs, with couples drenching away merrily to songs, expressing their love for each other. The wet and wild look, a sure shot eye catcher has been popularised in the past by several Bollywood rain songs. Indian cinema is best when it comes to romancing with rain. All top directors will have at least a few songs in their list of hit films. Having said this let us glimpse at a few top list songs in the rain.

The first in my list would be, Pyaar Hua Ikraar Hua from the movie Shree 420, sung by Mukesh and Lata, composed by Shankar-Jaikishen and lyrics by Shailendra. This song you can find it in every list of most romantic songs. The suttle expressions of love by the actors, the excellent composition and lovely lyrics gets it to the top in the list. Ek Ladki Bheegi Bhaagi Si- It has been sung so beautifully. The ravishing Madhubala looks great. A very funny, unconventional, off-centre song but evergreen Sung by Kishore Da himself from movie Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi. Music was composed by Sachin Dev Burman and lyrics by Majrooh Sultanpuri.

I did mention that rain gets out sensuality at its the best. And when I say that the songs that quickly pass by my mind are Bheegi Bheegi Raaton Mein- One of the most romantic rain songs from the movie Ajnabee. Sung by Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar and composed by R D Burman. Aaj Rapat Jaayen Sizzling Hot number from Namak Halal is one of the best Rain Songs of Bollywood. Smita Patil has never looked so sensous! Music was composed by Bappi Lahiri and Lyrics penned by Anjaan. Lagi Aaj Saawan featured on one Juhi Chawla. She looked beautiful in this hit number from Chandni. Music was by Shiv Hari and Lyrics by Anand Bakshi, Tip Tip Barsa Pani- From the movie Mohra here is one of the most popular and best rain songs of all time. Raveena Tondon and Akshay Kumar looked super hot in this song. Song was sung by Alka Yagnik and Udit Narayan. Music was composed by Viju Shah. Kaate Nahi Katate- This song from Mr. India is arguably the hottest song of Hindi film. Any Bollywood actress never even came close to look as sexy as Sridevi looked in this song. Kishore Kumar and Alisha Chinoy sang this song which was composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal and written by Javed Akhtar. Hai Hai Yeh Majboori-A nice song from movie Roti Kapda Aur Makaan. Sung by Lata Mangeshkar and performed by Zeenat Aman on screen. This lovely tune was composed by duo of Laxmikant Pyarelal. Some rain songs are just for any moods like Rimjhim gire saawan. Kishore Da sang this song beautifully in movie Manzil which was written by Lyricist Yogesh and composed by Pancham Da. Rimjhim Rimjhim-A beautiful romantic song which can lighten your mood every time you listen it. This song is from 1942-A Love Story. One of the finest song of Kumar Sanu which was composed by RD Burman and lyrics by Javed Akhtar. Koi Ladki Hai-Peppy dance number picturized beautifully on Shahrukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit in Dil toh Pagal Hai. This is one of the best rain songs from Hindi film. Sung by Udit Narayan and Lata Mangeshkar. Sanso Ko Sanson Mein -title track of Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherjee starring Hum Tum. Beautiful lyrics were written by Prasoon Joshi and Music composer was Jatin Lalit. Barso Re Megha-superb rain songs from Bollywood movies, sung by Shreya Ghoshal, written by Gulzar and composed by A R Rahman from film Guru. How can I forget Mere Khawabon Mein Jo Aaye- from iconic Movie DDLJ. This song was picturized on Kajol and remained at top place for many weeks.

Well at this rate I can write a whole book on Bollywood and rains. Its pouring now and the roses in my garden are beaming with joy. I am already tempted to picturize a song in rain. I think I will surely have one in my next film. Wishing All of you happy monsoons!!!!
