Director Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s ‘Barielly Ki Barfi’ is an earthy rom-com set in the small town of Barielly in Uttar Pradesh. The film is loosely based on French novel “’The Ingredients Of Love’ which is written by Nicolas Barreau in 2012.
Barielly ki Barfi revolves around three characters, Bitti Mishra (Kriti Sanon), Chirag Dubey (Ayushmann Khuranna) and Pritam Virohi (Rajkummar Rao). Bitti who is fed up with the society and her nagging mother after a few rejections in the marriage market, decides to runs away from home. However she find a book which interest her so much that she decides to trace the author. How she finds him out and what happens later forms the crux of the story.
Kriti Sanon in the role of a bubbly, outspoken, small town girl, looks just perfect and nails her character brilliantly. On the other hand Ayushmann Khurrana, who plays Chirag in the film, too puts up a sincere act at display. His character is totally different from what the actor has played in his career so far. However it is Rajkummar Rao who steals the show with his impeccable acting skills. The moment he enters the scene it completely belongs to him. With his natural act, he makes you clap and whistle for him. The way he gets into the skin of his character is amazing.
Other supremely talented actors like Seema Pahwa and Pankaj Tripathi who are seen playing Bitti's parents in the film did their job perfectly. One canno effort to miss them the moment they appear on the screen.
What the film suffers is a predictable climax, that’s common with such light-hearted love triangles. Nevertheless, these minor things don’t hamper your overall viewing experience. Go grab a bite!
