Director Pavan Kirpalani’s Bhoot Police is one of the finest horror-comedy of the year. In recent past Bollywood has tasted the success of horror genre, be it Rajkumar Rao and Shradha Kapoor starrer ‘Stree’ or Vicky Kaushal starrer ‘Bhoot’.
This is basically the story of two brothers Vibhooti (Saif Ali Khan) and Chiraunji (Arjun Kapoor) and two sisters Kanika (Jacqueline Fernandez) and Maya (Yami Gautam). Apart from them, Javed Jaffery and Rajpal Yadav are also in prominent roles in the film. Vibhooti and Chiraunji’s father was a renowned occultist and after his death both brothers continued their family business of providing solutions to escape from the ghosts and other supernatural powers. Maya faces problems from a supernatural power inside her tea factory so, one day in search of Vibhooti’s father she goes in a village where she meets Chiraunji and Vibhooti and comes to know their father is no more so, she takes them to her tea factory. Climax is the real crux of the story. To know what happens at the end one must watch the film.
Gorgeous Yami Gautam is the centre of attraction of the film. She impressed the audience with her mind-blowing performance. Audience will enjoy the comic scenes of Saif Ali Khan. He is playing the character of an occultist who himself does not believe in ghost and always make a fun of such things. Arjun Kapoor is playing a serious role who believes in supernatural powers and follows his late father’s belief and orders. He is playing one of the most prominent character in the film. Although Rajpal Yadav’s role is very small but still he impressed the audience with his outstanding performance. Apart from them, Jacqueline Fernandez and Javed Jaffery have also justified their roles in the film.
First half is quite better and holds the attention of the audience but somewhere second half could not meet the expectations of the audience. The powerful sounds and outstanding special effects are used but somewhere story could not meet the expectations of the audience especially in climax. The climax could have been better.
Although music does not play any major role in the film but still the melodious music of Sachin-Jigar is quite impressive.
Overall, this is a fine blend of horror and comedy. This is a nice attempt by the filmmaker. It holds the attention of the audience till end so why to wait, watch it on OTT platform releasing today.
