July 25, 2018 Yogesh Mishra

Actress Anamika Shukla started her career in Bollywood last year only and now she has three movies in hand in such a small tenure. Her upcoming films are Gaalib, Pakhi and Rohit Shetty’s next ‘Simmba’. She has played the protagonist in ‘Pakhi’ which is releasing in August 2018. In an exclusive interview with Yogesh Mishra, she spoke about her upcoming film ‘Pakhi’, working experience with Rohit Shetty’s film, future plans and more…

Tell us something about yourself?

I am from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. My inclination was always towards acting since my childhood. For my internship I moved to Delhi and there I have started my career in acting and modeling. There I joined theatre and did some music videos as well. Then finally in 2017 I moved to Mumbai and Mr. Dhiraj Mishra given me chance in Hindi film ‘Gaalib’. This is how I started my career in Bollywood.

What character are you playing in your upcoming film ‘Pakhi’?

I am playing the protagonist as ‘Pakhi’ in this film.

What are your expectations from ‘Pakhi’?

‘Pakhi’ has been shot very aesthetically by Sachin Gupta Sir. He showed the true facts of human trafficking in a commercialized way for the audience as a film. I am hoping that people will go and watch. It is a small step to aware people about these things. This is my first film releasing as a lead, so I really wish that everyone will like my work as an actor. I will always keep trying to perform my best. I have played different shades in this film. This is releasing few days before our Independence Day and ‘Pakhi’ means birds. This film has a message that everyone has a right to be free and we are trapping kids, girls, boys, every human in this flesh business. These innocent people needs to be set free. So to know where freedom still waiting for us to be aware, people have to watch this film.

You are also working in Rohit Shetty's next movie. How did you get the entry in this film?

As a job of an actor, I have given auditions in many agencies and forwarded my profile at many productions. One day I got a call from Asha Films that my profile is shortlisted for ‘Simmba’. My first thought was that this might be a fake call but then I have received the Rohit Shetty Picturez address for the final audition and look test then I realized that it's a genuine call. I gave the audition for two different characters but they like my look more in uniform. After waiting around ten days for the revert, I started feeling that I might have not been selected and then I got the confirmation call. I was super excited.

Now you are part of main stream cinema. How do you feel about it?

It's like dreams have started taking their shape in real life. I used to imagine myself working with the lead productions and directors. And now I am already doing it, meeting and working with those people to whom I used to imagine. It's a wonderful feeling which cannot be expressed in words. It's like finally after a long journey, I can see the dreams happening in real.

What are your future plans?

There's only one plan to keep doing good acting projects and make my parents proud and make them believe that dreams do come true if you truly believe in it.
